How to Cancel and/or Refund a Ticket

 
I need to cancel and/or refund a ticket.  How do I do it?

How to CANCEL a Ticket
Canceling a ticket releases the ticket back into that ticket type's inventory and makes it so the ticket number is invalid.

  1. Login to your AttendStar account and click the Search button on the AttendStar main screen


  2. In the search bar, type the attendee's order number (if they don't have their order number, you can search by their name or email address)


  3. Next to the name of the ticket buyer, under the Action column, click Cancel


  4. You can also search orders and resend tickets by clicking Manage Attendees under the Attendees section of the particular event 




  5. A box will appear to confirm the cancellation of the ticket. Select the Cancel option again
         
     
  6. In the text box, explain the reason for refunding the ticket. When you have filled out the appropriate information, click Cancel; then click Cancel Ticket

     
  7. You will receive a confirmation when the ticket has been canceled.


How to REFUND a Ticket
Refunding a ticket in AttendStar is for accounting purposes only and will be reflected on your event summary report as such. In order to actually issue a refund, you MUST issue it through your payment gateway/merchant account.


  1. If you are using your own payment gateway, log in to your payment gateway/merchant account and refund the attendee according to that specific processor. NOTE: There is NO WAY to refund the actual monies to an attendee through AttendStar. You must use the payment gateway/merchant account used to collect the ticket sales. If you are using AttendStar Payment Processing, please contact accounting@attendstar.com to issue a refund.
     
  2. Login to your AttendStar account and click the Search button on the AttendStar main screen

     
  3. In the search bar, type the attendee's order number (if they don't have their order number, you can search by their name or email address)


  4. Find the name of the ticket buyer whose ticket you are refunding in the Attendee List, and click the Cancel link that is in the same row as the name


  5. You can also search orders and resend tickets by clicking Manage Attendees under the Attendees section of the particular event




  6. A box will appear to confirm the cancellation of the ticket. Select the Cancel option again


  7. In the text box, explain the reason for refunding the ticket. When you have filled out the appropriate information, click Cancel and Refund; then click Cancel Ticket


    **NOTE: A ticket that is refunded is automatically canceled; there is no option to just refund a ticket

  8. You will receive a confirmation when the ticket has been refunded
